Detect heart damage early and accurately
Service Description
Biomarker: TnT Sample: BLOOD Results: SAME DAY Phlebotomy fee: £15.00 Troponin T is a protein found in heart muscle. When the heart muscle is damaged, troponin T is released into the bloodstream. Troponin levels typically rise within 3–6 hours after heart damage and peak around 12–24 hours. TnT can stay elevated for 1–2 weeks depending on the severity, slightly longer than cardiac Troponin-I (cTnI). Symptoms of high TnT level includes: - Chest pain or pressure (especially radiating to the arm, jaw, or back) - Shortness of breath - Nausea or vomiting - Sweating - Fatigue or weakness - Irregular heartbeat - Dizziness or fainting Causes of heart muscle injury may include: - Heart attack (myocardial infarction) - Myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle) - Heart failure - Arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms ) - Cardiomyopathy( disease of the heart muscle that can weaken the heart and make it difficult to pump blood) - Heart valve disease (condition that can damage the heart valves, which can interfere with the flow of blood through the heart) - Pulmonary embolism (sudden blockage in one of the pulmonary arteries in the lungs)
